Yoga is more popular today than ever. Famous stars and other celebrities practice and thousands or even millions of people are also yoga exercises in one way or another. But, despite this popularity, yoga is still misunderstood. Many people think that yoga is primarily a physical activity, something that can put their body in shape. It is true that yoga has an important role in the gamephysical realm, yoga is much more than that.
Yoga is in its deepest sense, the science of human perfection. This is the way a person can reach its full potential: physically, mentally and spiritually.
The perfection of man? This is a big task. It did not come with a few lines on his thigh. Yoga In its external practices and exercises, is the true basis for a correct application. The correct application is to live a life that will put youin harmony with the surrounding community and with our own inner selves.
When I started practicing yoga, I told my friends. He was interested and wanted to get started. I was a teacher at this time, so I recommend a book. He looked at me and said with gravity, "How do I steal!"
Well, you can not start yoga, because the theft is not a way to get in harmony with society or with yourself. Yoga regulated or controlledBehavior is known by its Sanskrit word "samyama" and controlled behavior consists of two parts, "Yama" and "Niyama".
In many books on Yoga Yama called "abstention", ie things that you should not do, is defined. Niyama is sometimes translated as "memory", which refers to things you should do. These rough translations are not entirely correct.
A better way to understand Yama, is of her as a discipline that can help to think in harmony with your externalEnvironment. Niyama, on the other hand, practices that will help you achieve inner harmony.
Let's take a brief look at the different parts of Yama and Niyama. In future articles in this series I will focus in detail all aspects of Yama and Niyama.
Yama consists of five parts. They are as follows.
1. "Ahimsa" means harm to others with thoughts, words or actions is strictly prohibited. Intentionally, we do nothing, is what other people or damage their blockphysical, mental or spiritual progress. If you have a two or three Sanskrit word dictionary definition of that word, alone, has not been forgotten, "nothing wrong" or "do no harm." But there is more than two words of ahimsa. What is the defense? What about our relationships with other living beings? These are important questions, and there are a number of different viewpoints. I detail in the next article in this series.
2. ' "Site off is usually referred to as the truth. A better definitionis given by Shrii Shrii Anandamurti "the action of the mind and the proper use of words with the spirit of wellness." What they think or say, we should do with the spirit of helping others. This usually means telling the truth, but if the exact truth, creating an injury to someone, then we must choose our words carefully. Thus, a good two-word definition might be "the truth of discrimination."
3. "Asteya steal" is not:. We must not take possession of something that is owned byother. We must not think of stealing something, and we should refrain from others what has been omitted.
4. "Brahmacarya" literally means ") to remain connected to Brahma (the Supreme Consciousness. The idea behind this practice is that all living and non living beings to be treated as an expression of God
5. "Aparigraha" is defined as non-accumulation of physical objects that are useless for our needs. In your situation, you should getWhat you need to live your life, but you should not accumulate luxury goods, which go beyond your actual needs.
These are the five parts of Yama.
Just as there are five aspects yama is also niyama five principles together. Practice these five, and if you want to achieve internal harmony. In short, they are:
1. "Shaoca" (pronounced Sha-o-cha) means cleanliness and purity. Keep the environment clean and your thoughts pure. The old adage says, "Cleanliness is next toPunishment from God ", and it is true.
2. "Santosha" is the satisfaction in mind. Hard work, can at best, and then with what you have achieved.
